OSD flicker with SMplayer on UBUNTU

Postby take5 » Thu Oct 20, 2016 6:47 pm

While using SMplayer v.16.9.0 in full-screen mode I have noticed that the notify-OSD bubble for the volume controls causes an intermittent glitch in both the graphics card, and the volume output.THe screen will flicker on and off for a moment, and the sounds will drop out.

This behaviour does not occur while using other media players such as VLC, or if Compiz is disabled (which disables the OSD bubbles).

How can I resolve this?

Using Ubuntu 14.04 with Unity & compiz and SMplayer version 16.9.0

Does it make any difference if you select another video output in preferences -> general -> video?

thank you for you reply. Changing the setting from openGL to XV seems to resolve the issue.
I am wondering though why this happens, and will my video quality suffer using XV setting?

Thanks
