From one day to the next smplayer now only allows me to advance 3 frames. Yesterday I could advance as many frames as I chose. I also tried to get it to advance a frame after a screen capture. I tried the adjustment (use_pausing_keep_force true) but that doesn't help. Any further advice on why it suddenly changes. Is there some kind of cache that needs to be emptied? Thanks
PS After writing this I uninstalled smplayer,deleted the smplayer folder in program files and deleted the smplayer folder in Documents and Settings. I downloaded the latest version and it immediately went back to 1)not advancing after a screen capture 2) allowing only 3 frames to advance before stopping. My older computer, using smplayer, also with XP, doesn't do this. Surely there's some kind of an explanation?

I have never experienced that problem.

Anyway see if changing the audio driver (preferences -> general -> audio) makes any difference.

For that you need to set use_pausing_keep_force to false in smplayer.ini.

Before I knew about this setting the screen capture wouldn't advance at all. My problem continues to be that for some reason sometimes it advances without limit or sometimes it will only advance 3 times and then stops.

I don't know the reason. It never happened to me.
