Mplayer doesn't find libx265.so.95

Hi,
I have updated Mint 18 to Mint 18.1 and mplayer has stopped working:
/usr/bin/mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libx265.so.95: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Libx265.95 is installed in my system. I can't uninstall it because it will ask me to uninstall many packages from my system (around 500mb). The version I am using is 2.2-0~16.04.york0 and trying to force a lower version will ask to uninstall many packages as well. Reinstalling the package didn't help either.
Any ideas?
