SMPlayer Support Forum

SMPlayer is a very fine player, but I have problems with VIDEO_TS folders (.vob files).
It seems SMPlayer has some difficulties with such files.
e.g. when playing, there is a short commercial before the main movie.
The commercial keeps on repeating.

Or if the main movie comes up, there are option to play move, select languages etc.
No matter what I am clicking on, nothing happens.

Don't know what to do.
(I don't want to install another player)

Any suggestions?

Turn off DVD menus in preferences -> drives and try again.

Sorry, forgot to say, the DVDs are located on my harddisk or on an external drive.
Under preferences drives I see
Select your CD device
Select your DVD device
Select your Blu-ray device

only.

Open the menu Browse -> Title, you may need to select a different title to play the movie.

Eh ... ?

Then what ?

Did you open that menu when you're playing the DVD?

Ok. But this really doesn't help. I mean, if there's a bug I want to fix it, but for that I need info. If people just gave up...

You are having trouble because DVDs aren't opened with VOB files but with the VIDEO_TS.ifo file. That's the one You have to open in order to watch de DVD as in a regular DVD player.
