subtitles cannot be loaded in the 18.3.0 (64-bit) version

I have tried to use the portable version but the software refuse to display any subtitles. No matter which location of them I select, I cannot see them on my screen. I run the player on Windows 8.1. Needless to say that the previous portable version of SMPlayer manages subtitles without any issue.

I'm afraid I can't reproduce this problem. Be sure the "subtitle visibility" option under the "subtitles" menu is enabled.

Of course I have enabled the subtitles visibility option. But it has not helped it though. I have checked the portable 32-bit version of the same level. I this case subtitles are displayed without any problem. Then I downloaded the 64-bit portable version once again today and this time subtitles are displayed without any problem. How one can explained it?

I confirm the same issue. Linux Mint 64, SMPlayer 18.3.0 revision 8959.
Subtitles do not show, even though they are selected and activated (V).
Other players show the subs without any issue. SMPlayer was fine until the last update.

Linux Mint 64. It seems there is a problem when SMPlayer is playing 1080p mkv files. Subtitles don't show or just show sometimes, randomly.
MPV player plays the files with subtitles seamlessly.

Be sure the encoding for the subtitles in preferences -> subtitles is correct.

Encoding is fine, and even changing the encoding does not solve it.
The issue is manifesting only with 1080p mkv. It is weird, though, since SMPlayer is using mpv, and mpv player (also Gnome mpv) are playing the same files withouth any glitch.
The previous version of SMPlayer didn't have these issues, also. Therefore it has to be something in the current version that doesn't agree with these files.

What was the last version that worked well for you?

I think there hasn't been any change from version 18.2.2 which could produce this problem.

I don't know the number of the version before. I just updated it. Sorry.

What version of mpv or mplayer is installed in you system?
Could you provide a link to a small sample video with this problem?
