There is something very bizarre with r3584 and possibly others before that. I am installing the intel multicore version on Windows7 and was discovering various files where it would play it fine, then suddenly later on, wouldn't play it at all. If you play a video file and stop it, then open the main smplayer preferences, change something and click ok. For some reason this is messing up the config files in some way and trying to play that same video causes it to error out on the video or possibly the audio as well.
I have discovered a workaround that'll keep your videos playing smoothly though. First, goto Options > Preferences, and select "General" in the list. Now select the General tab and you should see an option for "Remember Settings for all files". Uncheck ""Remember Settings for all files" and click ok. Now close smplayer and open explorer. Goto C:\Users\$username$\.smplayer and delete the "file_settings" folder. If it's on XP (the issue may not affect this OS), replace "\Users\" with "\Documents and Settings\". Now you can continue as normal, where all videos will just open with their default config.
