Smplayer won't play URLs

To whoever might know an answer:

My OS is Windows 7 64 SP1

Since a few upgrades my reliable SmPlayer won't play URLs. Whenever I open an URL, there is some buffering activity, but it is very short - more or less 5% - then the SmPlayer logo appears on the screen, and the title of the URL can be read on the status line, but for the rest... zilch. No way of playing said URLs. Browsing the Internet, I have found that several users with the same Windows config are confronted with the same problem.
Please note that:
- on my laptop, still equipped with XP 32 SP3, I encounter the same problem (also since a few upgrades)
- most if not all of these URLs have no problem on other players

Can anyone find a solution for this galling situation?

Please send the mplayer log after trying to play one of the urls (options -> view logs -> mplayer).

Hi rvm!

Thanks for the prompt reaction. As requested please find attached: 3 logs of 3 different "radio" streams (2 of them real live - 1 deferred). All three play perfectly well inside the browser (Chrome) - but, as said, not in SmPlayer.

The problem is that you're trying to play html files. It's necessary to figure out the actual streams, I did it by looking at the source of the pages:
