It may not be possible to keep SMP from copying the same URL from clipboard more than once (well, probably possible...). Technically, probably no reason for SMP to copy the same URL more than once, but that still doesn't clear the clipboard.
For those that want to create a shortcut or quick launch icon to clear clipboard contents (for lots of reasons), so don't have to open clipboard to del contents, instructions (2nd Option, for manual) show how.
Only thing I found in Vista is, in the shortcut's properties > "Start in," box, I had to enter C:\Windows\System32\ for it to work.
If your OS isn't in C:\, then enter %windir% instead of C:\Windows\, in both boxes.
Can't we all just get along? If a computer crashes when no one's around, does it make a sound?
