Cannot stream videos

I have the same problem on a 900MHz HP laptop (K7) with Youtube browser. No video after a brief flash, and the audio stutters (repeats random phrases),

On a 1.6GHz (Intel) I played three Youtube videos.
1. Sound and video out of synch, with stuttering. A talking head, little motion.
2. Sound works fine but no video at all.
3. Sound stutters, video extremely jerky (one frame every few seconds).

Volume control does work.

win32 32-bit, XP, Opera 12.02, smplayer set to play all file formats

I set it to 360p instead of the default 720p.

Youtube works on both computers used directly.
