Youtube not working with some videos

Because of a mistake in the version 2013-08-22 of the youtube code, it's necessary to manually update the youtube code using the option Help -> Update Youtube code.

I think I've just find out a way to decrypt the vevo signatures which won't be affected by these often youtube changes.
In fact they changed the signature length (new one: 93) a few hours ago and smplayer wasn't affected by the change using the new code.

This new code isn't in svn yet.

Use an external 3rd party tool? In Arch Linux gets updated practically every week, and cf. for info on this arms race and also for example.

At first smplayer used the youtube-dl code (translated from python to c++) to decrypt the signatures but now it uses its own code.

OK ... myself, I'd git track youtube-dl and minimally customize with or just compile with .

stop nagging with www opening windows after smplayer is upgraded.
it is close to adaware.
