Buttons don't work 7 out of 10 times

Ok, i'm having a bit of a wierd issue. i was watching a video that is part of a 203 part playlist(basically 203 individual episodes). while watching i noticed that the buttons, 7 times out of ten, wouldn't work. i don't mean things like options and what not, the top bar is always fine, but the toolbar and player pause/stop/etc area's wouldn't work. it didn't honestly affect anything, the video kept on going, and everything was fine, i just can't navigate quite like i want to. or at least, not as well. is it an issue with the size of the playlist? or is it something else entirely?

I've done some tinkering and nothing seems to work. i've reduced the playlist to about 20 video's, then when that didn't work i tried with 1. neither affected anything. i also tried tinkering with almost any setting i could, and even updated the thing and reset it to default, nothing seems to work. its just some buttons don't work sometimes, and only those directly related to the video(play/pause and time skip buttons for example)

Send the smplayer log when you have this problem, maybe it will give us a clue.

Anyway I don't think the problem is related to the playlist.

What are exactly the buttons that don't work?
Play? Pause? The seeking buttons? The fullscreen button?
Do the key shortcuts work? (space, the cursor keys...)

If you select the "basic GUI" in preferences, does the problem still happen?

the only ones affected are ones that affect the video currently playing back. play, pause, fast forward, backwards, seeking, any function like that. it happens with the base gui as well, and the space bar pause seems to cause it as well. i even tried activating the "pause on window minimize thing" and even that for some reason didn't pause the video most of the time. i'd say its just the video but this is happening with an entire set of episodes, all of the same file type(mp4) and by the same people as ones that work correctly as well. i'm honestly very confused as to how this could even be happening

I've just downloaded the file [SHS-FoSu]_Kateikyoushi_Hitman_Reborn_-_43_[1166E475].mp4 and I was able to reproduce the issue.

It seems to be a problem with the cache of mplayer. Setting the cache to 0 seems to fix it.
