Problem with audio equalizer

When any slider is increased by any level greater than zero, the overall volume level is reduced by at least 10-15 dB. This then requires a compensating adjustment to the volume control, making equalizer adjustments somewhat cumbersome. Can this be fixed? It happens regardles of which audio driver is used. Thanks.

Yes, I noticed it. But this is probably a bug of mplayer, so I'm afraid I can't fix it.
