Same here. I've tried lots of combinations but no success at all, it's kinda disappointing now that smplayer behaves quite different than mplayer does.

Can anyone send a URL that works?

Maybe I can try to add support for those streams if I can play one.

Edit: I found some of those streams. I'll try to add support for them.

Since live streams do not work so good for me I would like to have a cool youtubes gui wrapper with canals, playlists, favorites AND virtual folders or so.
Best would be and auto playlist build on search terms and sorted via date with auto clean up function (delete all if oder than XY).

Basically, the easiest stuff since podcasts and remember we live in 2014 or making the point: 3rd millenium
