Hi,
I'm having some trouble playing back HD files "correctly". Either I can play them back smoothly with out of sync audio, or I can play them back choppy because of dropped frames with in sync audio (presumably in sync audio but it's too hard to tell because it's choppy).
If I want smooth playback I have to deselect "allow frame drop" and "allow hard frame drop". The longer the video plays the more out of sync the audio becomes.
For in sync audio I need to select at least "allow frame drop" but the frame rate isn't good enough to be watchable. Enabling "allow hard frame drop" only makes the frame rate drop more, as expected. I guess I'm keeping the audio in sync though.
My hardware should be able to handle 1080 HD videos with no problem though. My processor is an AMD 965 Black Edition (3.4 ghz quad-core), I have 4 GB of DDR3 1600 RAM, and a Radeon 5850 Black Edition (minor factory overclock) graphics card. I have 6x post processing enabled, double buffering enabled, 99999 KB local cache (97 MB) set, and rendering with direct3d. Disabling the post processing and changing from direct3d to directx (fast) has no effect though.
Any ideas on why I can't achieve both smooth playback and synced audio?
