[Feature Request] Adding Multiple URLs To A Playlist

Postby Ademos » Wed Jul 21, 2010 1:02 am

As far as I know, the current process for opening a URL of a video/audio stream, is the following:
1.) File menu
2.) URL
3.) Type or paste in the URL
4.) Click OK

These steps allow me to listen to ONE stream.

But if I want to create a PLAYLIST of multiple streams, I'm not sure how I would do it.

Using the "+" menu in the playlist toolbar, gives me me three options
- Add current file
- Add file(s)
- Add directory

But there is no entry for "Add url," and my objective is to add multiple audio streams to a playlist.

Is it possible to add multiple URLs to a playlist?
If no, are there any plans to add this feature?

I've been busy.

But you can do the following: open a text editor, add all urls there (one per line), save it with m3u extension. Open it with smplayer.

Aha! That's a good quick-fix for now.

Thank you for the idea RVM!

But I'm curious; do you have any plans to add my requested feature into the GUI?

If it is not very difficult, maybe.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking about it.

The reason I care about this feature, is that I'm trying to find a simple and reliable way to listen to audio streams on KDE. (natively)

But after trying many tools, (including Amarok) Smplayer still ends up being the one I choose. (because it doesn't crash and contains all the functions I need)

So again, I'm glad to hear you're thinking about it.

If you ever decide to add the feature, I think it would be a very useful addition.

I just tested this feature and I am now able to add multiple URLs to a playlist. (I think this feature in Smplayer 0.8.5)

Thanks for adding the feature I requested, RVM.
