High 10 Profile crashing VDPAU configuration

Postby Green » Tue Jul 26, 2011 12:22 am

Using VDPAU & mplayer2 with SMPlayer, playback of High 10 Profile (Hi10p) will cause mplayer2 to crash. As High 10 Profile can not be played back using video codec ffh264vdpau, is there a way to have SMPlayer or mplayer2 to automatically fallback to video codec ffh264?

To whom it may concern,
This is still an issue in the wild with smplayer/mplayer, smplayer2/mplayer2. Ideally, there would be an additional checkmark near 'Preferences -> General -> Video -> Output Driver: vdpau, Configure -> ffmpegh264vdpau checkmark' (reference from smplayer 14.3.0) that would let the user prefer ffmpegh264vdpau, but fallback to ffmpegh264 if mplayer failed to initialize. At the time of this writing, there is no vdpau hardware capable of handling hi10p.
