Unable to Seek

If I try to skip forward in an M4A file the file stops playing. Is there a setting or option that fixes this problem?

You can try the options "absolute seeking" and "relative seeking" in preferences -> interface -> seeking.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't help. Is this a common problem? I only encounter it with M4A's, not MP3's.

I never had this problem with m4a, but maybe it depends on the version of mplayer or mpv you have installed.

Seek work with this file using and enabling "precise seeking" in preferences -> interface -> seeking. However seek is very slow and it doesn't seem possible to go beyond 1:00:00.

How do add mpv to a portable version of smplayer?

You can get a mpv build here:

Copy mpv.exe in the mplayer folder.

Don't forget to change in the preferences the mplayer binary to point to mpv.exe instead of mplayer.exe.

I changed the preferences to point to mpv.exe instead of mplayer.exe. There's an error when I open a file.

Error parsing option slave-broken (option not found)
Setting command line option '--slave-broken=' failed.
Exiting... (Fatal error)
