None support video 8K and unicode subtitle

What's the URL (the Youtube page) of the video you tried to play?

I've just tested with this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChOhcHD8fBA (extracting the 8K URL with youtube-dl) and it plays ok (or at least it tries, because my computer isn't fast enough to play 8K videos) with both mplayer and mpv.

About the subtitles, there is support for UTF-8 but you need to select it in preferences -> subtitles -> encoding.

Yes, here's video i've met a problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLprVF6d7Ug (i use IDM to get link 8K video and play it by pasting the URL get from IDM into SMPlayer:

This video I use MPlayer (not using MPV and youtube-dl) to play it.

The unicode subtitle has been solved because I've reseted SMPlayer so it can't show the unicode subtitle.

I can't reproduce it, the video plays for me.

Try with another video output or try with .

By the way, it you configure smplayer as explained here you can play the 8K videos just entering the youtube URL (the page), no need to extract the 8K URL: http://blog.smplayer.info/how-to-play-a ... -smplayer/
