A couple of comments...

rvm:

A couple of things. First, I want to say that the hardware decoding option "dxva2-copy" works well on my older, somewhat slow machine. Using SMPlayer with this option allows even 1080p videos to play pretty well. With other players, 1080p videos simply can't be watched: the audio and video are always out-of-sync, and the video is extremely jerky. Anything you can do to continue to enhance this "dxva2-copy" functionality would be much appreciated. The 1080p videos are still not perfectly smooth, but they are at least watchable.

The other thing I wanted to ask about is the option of using SMPlayer to produce thumbnail image files of every video in a given directory (I had mentioned that a couple of months ago, you may recall). Any progress on that? My idea would be to have an option to automate the process entirely, so no input is required once the generation begins. That would be quite handy.

Anyway, keep up the great work on SMPlayer, and thanks!

I'll use this thread to mention a new issue, if that's okay:

Sometimes, hitting the audio Mute icon while a video is playing causes the video itself to go into super-slow motion. This doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be annoying. It doesn't seem to matter whether the video is an MP4 or FLV or whatever. I've just noticed this in the past few days, so I'm wondering if some change has been made to the way audio muting works that could cause the video to almost stop when muting is activated.

Could you change the audio output (preferences -> general -> audio) and see if this problem still happens?

rvm:

A bit of additional information about this muting problem...

What happens is this: if a video is playing and the mute icon is clicked OR the volume slider is moved all the way to zero, then mpv.exe maxes out the CPU, using 100% of available resources (as shown in the Windows Task Manager Processes window). This is why the video appears to stop and then jump forward a frame every now and then. It seems to be an MPV issue...

Interestingly, if the mute is on BEFORE a video starts, then the video plays at normal speed without sound (because the mpv.exe process is not maxing out the CPU). It's just when mute is activated while the video is playing that the CPU is maxed out.

This problem is still present in the latest update (svn r7513).

What other options are you using for the audio? (audio equalizer, volume control by software...)
I wasn't able to reproduce the problem in my computer.

Dang! Good call, man. It was the "Use software volume control" option that was causing the CPU hogging when the mute icon was clicked. I thought I had had that checked for a long time, but maybe I checked it only recently. As soon as I unchecked it, the problem disappeared. Not sure what the problem is, but I guess I won't be using that option for now!

Thanks!
