Video Equalizer

Postby 100% » Sat Jul 02, 2016 1:53 pm

First of all, let me say a big THANK YOU for this wonderful player.

My problem is that I cannot make the video equalizer work with hardware decoding enabled. Tried with the software video equalizer enabled too, but no luck. With hardware decoding disabled the video equalizer works just fine.

My CPU is not that great and the picture is dark so I really need hardware decoding enabled and the video equalizer working. It there a fix to this? A workaround maybe?

TIA

What operating system are you using?

I've just tested on Windows 10 and the software equalizer works with hardware decoding.

Hi rvm,

I'm using Xubuntu 16.04 (x64).

The thing is it's working with VLC. But I do prefer SMPlayer, it's just better (with mpv it's awesome!).

Is there anything I can do about this? Force brightness somehow perhaps?

Unfortunately it seems hardware decoding doesn't work on Ubuntu 16.04 running on virtuabox, so I can't test it.

Have you tried if the video equalizer works with a different video output (Preferences -> General -> Video)?

Yep, that did it! The video equalizer is working with hardware decoding enabled and with vdpau video output. Now I can fully and thoroughly enjoy my favourite player.

Many thanks rvm, keep up the excellent work!
