SMP crashed the video driver

Postby rado84 » Sun Jul 03, 2016 10:37 pm

For more than 6 months I've been using KMPlayer and the same video driver version (AMD 16.4.2) and for all that time the driver didn't crash even a single time. Now I decided to try with SM Player and half an hour after installing and running SMP, the video driver crashed. I don't know what you think but to me the answer is quite obvious: SMP caused the video driver to crash. It's a good player, even a little better than KM Player but if it's gonna crash my drivers every time I run it, I'd better stay with KMP cuz it seems KMP doesn't care and/or use the video driver.

I didn't experience a driver crash in any of the computers I tested SMPlayer.
Could you try another video output (Preferences -> General -> Video) and see if any of them works better for you?

The driver crashed without any video running. I simply installed it and the clicked the program executable in order to make some subtitles settings. The moment I did that and program loading process started I got a black screen and a few seconds later there was a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in tray which is an indication for video driver crash. So to answer your question - it was SMP with default settings that caused the driver crash.

That's very strange.

Do you have the same problem with version 16.4?
