Double click to replay no longer works

Something changed.It used to be when a video came to the end I could just double click and it would start over. Now if I do that it just plays a second of video and stops. I have to hit the stop button. Then it minimizes the screen. Then I have to press start. Is there a way to get the old way back? I started noticing this after switching multimedia engine to mpv for another function. Don't know if there is any connection. I switched it back to mplayer but no difference. Thanks

Maybe you had assigned the double click to the "play" button and maybe you changed it?

You can select the actions for the mouse buttons in Preferences -> Keyboard and mouse -> Mouse.

Actually double click still will play as well as the spacebar. When the video has played to the end and, all I see is the normal black screen. I used to be able to just double click, or hit enter and it would go back to the beginning and start playing again. Now it just stays at the end like in the picture. The only way I can get it to start over is to hit stop, then (when in full screen)it minimizes, then I hit play again, then I must bring it to full screen again. So I guess my question is where is the setting which makes it go back to start when it ends? It did that before. Thanks

Let me see if I understand this correctly. So you're playing a video, in fullscreen, the video ends but smplayer is still in fullscreen until you press stop.

Maybe the problem is that the mplayer/mpv process didn't finish so smplayer thinks that the video is still playing.

What version of smplayer are you using? Do you know when (what version) this problem started?

By the way it's Version: 16.4.0 (64-bit). I think I've been using that version before the problem started. On the road now but will make a little video showing what it's doing when I get back. strange, It will play the whole video but when it gets to the end it just stops. If I hit play or double click it will play a very little bit of the last part of the video and then just keep playing that whenever I hit play.Up to that point it behaves normally.

Does it happen with all videos or maybe it's just only one?

Maybe that video is corrupted at the end and it finishes a little bit before reaching the end, so when you click to play it tries to resume playback from that point.

I don't use playlists very often but today I was using one. However it would stop at the end of every song and go no further. In preferences for playlists I found a setting saying "play the next song even if the previous song failed". With what you said about files being corrupted at the end I checked that and it's got the playlist working correctly and so far a number of other files are playing without hanging up at the end. I've tried to play many files from all kinds of origins however and find it hard to believe they are all corrupted, especially because I played them without problem before and can often play some files that don't work in smplayer in vlc player. I prefer smplayers options but somehow it seems much more sensitive. Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Then the problem may be that mplayer or mpv are finishing with an error code.

What version of mplayer or mpv are you using?

Does the problem still happen with version 16.7?
