gui flashes on video pause

Postby tom » Sat Nov 13, 2010 5:27 pm

whenever i press pause (or play) a video in smplayer, the smplayer gui window "flashes" - it's especially annoying when i step thru the video "frame by frame" (pause then press the "." key) since the flashing gets quite bad and frequent. is there a setting i can change to prevent this? or is it related to my windows settings?

Version: 0.6.9 (SVN r3447)
Using Qt 4.5.1 (compiled with Qt 4.5.1)
Using MPlayer SVN r32492
system info: i use win 7 64 bit with "transparent" theme.

Try a different video output driver.

different video drivers didn't help (direct3d, directx, gl, gl ati). i also tried diabling all video effects in windows7 but that also didn't help.

i managed to find a workaround - smplayer prefs > advanced > "run mplayer in its own window". this stops the video windows from flashing, but the other smplayer gui windows still flash (main window [with play buttons and volume], playlist, prefs window).

thanks for your fast response and suggestions rvm.

ps. i also created a small video of the original problem: http://www.mediafire.com/?kejnfbu5ln6zbfn - it's ~6MB and poor quality, but it illustrates the flashing.

This happens because you set the option "Stay on top" to "While playing".

If you set it to "Never" or "Always" it won't happen.

thanks for that rvm - not selecting "while playing" fixes it.
