GUI suggestions for increasing vertical height

The first thing that jumped out at me as a new smplayer user was the large icons and toolbar which took up alot of valuable vertical space.
I found that changing the control bar to mini gui helped but the menubar and a few other things

1. Option to remove menu bar - the menu bar is superfluous most of the time since the right click also brings up the menu.
I saw a few similar requests in the sourceforge discussion.
2. The large icon size (minimum 24) takes up more space than is necessary, and there is excess space above/below/btwn icons.
3. Having a way to put the time display (time label action) just above the time slider bar (without increasing the vertical height) would help save space by not shrinking the slider bar.

Other people complained that the icons were too small. It's difficult to satisfy everyone.
You can change the icon size in the toolbar editor (options -> toolbars -> edit...)

I should add that I'm running smplayer on windows and not on Linux where things might be different.

The floating control is shown in compact mode but only when using the "Basic GUI".

We need a way to reduce the icon size to smaller than 24. I don't understand why it would be a problem to just make all the icons full adjustable - say from 10 to 30.

The way Version 7.6.0 is now is useless to me. I will have to see if I can do a clean uninstall and go back to an earlier version with smaller icons.

This used to be a VERY useful application for me, but as it is now I can't even use it because it takes up too much real estate.

If the icons are too large for you, maybe you need to turn off or select a lower scale in the HDPI setting in preferences -> interface.
