YouTube completely broken (again)

Just applied the latest update...videos playing again...but upon moving the time slider to a new location within the video Smplayer crashes. Log file message reads...

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: seek

Yes, I also experienced this problem. I guess it's a bug in mplayer. I think it can be fixed by selecting "relative seeking" in preferences -> interface -> seeking.

I fixed the playback in 17.12 by changing the Youtube (and other sites) support preference to "mpv+youtube-dl", but will rebuild 18.1 for MX Linux.

You need smplayer 18.1, and set the option "support for video sites" in preferences -> network to "auto" or "youtube".
It also works with older versions of smplayer if you set that option to "mpv + youtube-dl" but that requires to use mpv as multimedia engine (preferences -> general) and a recent version of youtube-dl installed on your system.

Smplayer v18.1.0 + mplayer does not play video and audio from youtube (url is defined successfully).
mpv plays video normally. Why does not it play a smplayer + mplayer video? Ubuntu 14.04 lts.
