i know smtube is a add on itself to connect to youtube right from desktop
is it possible to create a WEB extension for firefox and chrome
the way VLC has ? where you can choose your browser to OPEN TO or SEND TO w a right click TO SMplayer the way smtube can trigger to open a player

SOME addons you OPEN VLC MANUALLY then click the icon to play
others are RIGHT CLICK to LAUNCH player like smtube does
