Ubuntu 18.04 - SMPlayer 18.6.0 video file question

Is this a normal behavior for SMPlayer in Linux? when I double click on a video file, a notification comes up saying that SMP is ready, but it did not come into focus and did not play the video, I have to do it manually. Is it possible to configure it to come into focus and star to play video after double clicking on the video/music file? I tried to look into Options > Preferences, but couldn't find any setting for it.

That's weird, there must be something wrong in the configuration of your system. I think you should look at the configuration (file associations) of your file manager.

My apologies, I thought it's working, actually it's partially working, if I have SMP already opened, then click on a media file, I'll get a notification saying that SMP is ready, but it does not come into focus or start playing, but if I close it and click on a media file, then SMP opens up and starts playing the media file, is this supposed to work this way?
