make Closed Captions set to 1 by default

I prefer to see Closed Captions on just about everything. It used to be with my SMP that as soon as I downloaded an srt it would start to show in the video. Then somehow it changed, so that I have to go to Closed Captions and change the value from zero/off to 1/on. I know, poor me, woe is me. But there must be a way to return to Closed Captions set to 1 by default.
