delayed video playback in 18.10.0 (64-bit) on Windows 8.1

Postby lukand » Tue Dec 25, 2018 1:09 pm

I noticed that when I try to playback any video of 1920×1080 pixels and of 60 frames per second, the sound is reproduced correctly but after some playback time a video is getting delayed more and more. It looks like the maximal capability of video is set to 50 frames per second (any other video of 1920×1080 pixels and 50 frames per second can be played back correctly). Surprisingly to me, an attempt to play a video of 60 frames per second does not cause any issue of my concern if another players are employed [MPC-HC (1.7.13) or VLC media player (3.0.4)]

Could anyone explain and provide a remedy for the issue?

You can try enabling hardware decoding in preferences -> performance, or changing the video output in preferences -> general -> video.
If that doesn't fix the problem, then you can use the option "allow frame drop" in preferences -> performance.

Thank you for the provided tip! I checked both possibilities and in my case the second advice ('allow frame drop') solved the problem. Is it possible to know what condition would have to be met so to selecting the 'allow frame drop' option would not be necessary (all 60 frames per second would be played back)?
