Loop a directory?

Postby Hank Morgan » Fri Jul 05, 2019 1:27 am

Hello all,
New SMP user here and I like it so far. But I haven't been able to figure out how to loop a directory. I can play vids in a directory sequentially just fine, and can loop individual vids with -loop 0, but I haven't figured out how to put an entire directory on continuous loop. Is this possible?

What I'm trying to do is set up a system to showcase animals at a local shelter. I want to be able to put a couple of dozen vids on a usb stick and have them all play sequentially. When it gets to the last vid then it repeats them all again, indefinitely.

Thanks!

Hank

Add the videos to the playlist and turn on the repeat button in the playlist.

Thank you for your reply rvm.

That does work for me. I was hoping for a solution where the users (shelter staff) could just plug in a USB stick with vids of the current crop of available animals and hit "play" without having to manually add things to a playlist. If I could just set an entire directory to loop that would work great. Looks like maybe VLC will do what I want.

Thanks!

There's an option in preferences -> playlist to add videos from the same folder automatically, so you just play one video, and the rest will play afterwards.
