smtube - search does not work quotas exceeded

Search does not work in smtube.Here is the error I get
A client error occurred: Error calling GET https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/s ... de=US&key=<KEY>: (403) Daily Limit Exceeded. The quota will be reset at midnight Pacific Time (PT). i just got that right now - you can switch to you tube by putting YOU TUBE in search or create a BAT file

It's been happening to me off and on, but in recent days, it's getting way out of hand. It almost seems like it only started in the aftermath of the 2020 sports game with lots of advertising. And again with the fallout from the State of the Union Address. As if Google is only letting Tonvid use so many API requests and a brand new group of users have started using it avidly... either that, or it's being tracked per-user and I just keep overrunning the limits. I saw an earlier thread about a pretty similar condition a couple years ago and there was the idea that deleting cookies.ini will work, but it didn't work for me.

Please help. SMTube has become practically unusable like this.

I have been getting that error every now and then over the past few months. But starting this Monday, it has become more and more of a regular occurrence, starting earlier and earlier in the evening and even in the afternoon. This has gone from a mild inconvenience to a problem that has rendered this program borderline useless. I saw a similar thread about the issue from a few years ago that suggested that deleting the cookies.ini file might fix the problem. I located the cookies.ini file in /home/<user>/.config/smtube and tried deleting it, but to no avail. If this is affecting me far more than it affects other people, I might be relieved to get personal support in this. But something is definitely not right here.

It looks like youtube has lowered the quota. I'll try to find a solution.

Unfortunately youtube has just turned off my access to the youtube api, with no explanation. I created another one using another account but the quota is very low and it will only work for a few hours a day.

I'm afraid there isn't an easy solution for this problem

It's looking like they cut off the new account as well. You need to try to get a proper explanation from them. It might be harder now, since they banned your previous account and you made another one. That reeks of ban dodging. And technically, they aren't required to give you an explanation, but I believe that you (and the rest of us) deserve an explanation to what happened to our beloved SMTube. So I guess you'll have to give an impassioned plea as to why SMTube deserves to work and why you need their API for it.
