In preferences -> network be sure the option "support for video sites" is NOT set to "disabled".

I forgot to say that youtube videos can be played with vlc without a problem.

Run this in a terminal:
/home/mycomputer/bin/youtube-dl --version
If it complains about python maybe you need to install it.
/home/mycomputer/bin/youtube-dl --version

HI,
I've got the same problem for some time. The player doesn't play YouTube links anymore, prompting the message as Rachid's first post.
For some here, the problem is solved. Not for me. I'm a newbie and have hardly opened the Terminal before! Would you please mind say how to proceed step by step?
