Volume is forced to be too low

Every time smplayer runs, it forces its volume control to halfway (50%). This makes the volume too low as compared with other applications. How do I get it to reuse the same previous value, or else always start at 100%?

Env: SMPlayer 20.6.0 (32-bit), Equalizer APO 1.2.1, Windows Home (64-bit), HP laptop.

Be sure the option "global volume" is enabled in preferences -> general -> audio. Then play a video and set your preferred volume, it will be used for other videos.

That worked, thank you. Perhaps "global volume" isn't the best name for this checkbox, as it meant absolutely nothing to me. "Remember volume setting" might be better. In general, many of the options could use better names or dropdown Help information. SMPlayer is a great product; don't be afraid to make it even better.
