mplayer2 + smplayer = no video.

mplayer2 + smplayer = no video.

Hi.

I've been trying to run HD videos using mplayer2 + smplayer; however the behavior of smplayer is problematic, it plays some videos, some it doesn't but all belong to the same container (mp4) and are coded in x264 (youtube). The video is missing (I see a grey screen instead of the video). Also sometimes it plays sometimes it doesn't. Yesterday I was watching a HD clip and now the clip doesn't work (no video).

When I play it directly using mplayer2 from terminal, it works.

This build of smplayer is the latest (from version control), it's in portage overlays with the name 'smplayer2' i.e. it's specifically made for mplayer2.

Using the original smplayer with mplayer2 hardly works, there's no video for almost all videos.

I didn't test smplayer with mplayer2. It's not a surprise it doesn't work well.

Huh? I'm surprised it's not working. Built and added mplayer2 to the MEPIS 11, 8.5, and 8.0 (Debian Lenny! Ancient, but still works!) community repository last April and it has worked so well with SMPlayer and UMPLayer that we haven't felt the need for a newer version. Just to test, built the newest version mplayer2 in the unstable debian-multimedia repo, and it also had no trouble with either front-end.

Who forked SMPlayer2? Is the only modification to use mplayer2 as the default binary? (The debian-multimedia build installs as mplayer2, so the standard mplayer can remain installed)
