Where to learn about video codec programming?

Hi, I am a very interested in knowing about the algorithm/programming about video codec. Please give me advice where to start. Thank you. I know Java, C++ pretty much. After all, I graduated from a college with a CS degree.

Thanks for the advice. But, I want to learn from the basic actually. Besides, I don't know where to start asking question of video codec programming. Please help me a bit. Any kind of resources like tutorial, books, video tuts etc much appreciated.
