7.0: All File Associations Lost in Windows XP

Postby ganymede » Wed Feb 01, 2012 11:36 pm

After installation of 7.0, all local file associations have been lost on my Windows XP system. It is also not possible to renew them through SMPlayer; that is broken. What is required is a painstaking Windows approval process for each and every video type, be it .avi, .mpg, or .divx. I am very sorry to have installed 7.0 on two machines without trying it out first on one. Now I am hunting around for version 6.9. (I don't plan to make anymore "upgrades!" Big mistake.)

I'm not having any problems setting associations on XP, even after upgrading from 0.6.9. Could perhaps some security software you have be blocking the changes? 0.6.9 was released almost two years ago, maybe something changed since then.
