Video gets stuck

I have some cartoons for my littles daughter. The problem is, the Smplayer does not show it correctly. I mean, it stucks from time to time. I played around with video setup, I mean direct rendering, double buffer etc but the issue persists. When I play it from command line (Linux), mplayer name.avi, everything goes well. What am I doing wrong?
