When I add /sk in browser and want to search "in time" movie there are several slovak and czech subtitles available.

Yes, but as smplayer does not search in the opensubtitles web, it searches for a hash (calculated from the file) using the simple xml method (explained ), and just displays the results it gets from opensubtitles (and as you saw there were no subtitles for slovak).

Opensubtitles support a different method () but smplayer doesn't use it because it's harder to implement (and it will probably get the same results).

I see, now I understand. Anyway I have tried vlc plugin again and it has found sk subs for that movie. But you are right. This subs do not fit very well with the movie.

I dont like vlc. I still prefer Smplayer
