Mplayer 2

Is Mplayer 2 by defualt when installing on Windows SMplayer and/or in the Ubuntu repository? Or is it the original Mplayer?

By the way, thank you for this great program. The best video player by far.

On Windows smplayer includes the original mplayer.

On linux, smplayer doesn't include any, but I think by default the original mplayer will be install by apt. So if you want mplayer2, you have to install it: sudo apt-get install mplayer2

Ok, thanks. On Ubuntu, I have already the Mplayer 2 installed from the "semiexperimental" repository so there is no problem. For Windows, I have found this: (). Supposing I have nothing previously installed, I just have to execute it?

And why isn´t it by default? Isn´t it better?

Tell SMPlayer where the MPlayer2 exe is in the settings under General - General - MPlayer executable. You can rename it to mplayer.exe and overwrite the default one but I would keep it for troubleshooting.

I haven't found MPlayer2 to be any better. It can be added as an option that isn't very hard to do, up to rvm though.

I liked the mplayer2 he solved problems with the bar in time with some videos did not work on mplayer1
I thought HD and FullHD videos run lighter in mplayer2,
at least in my machine I noticed!
It would be nice next version (0.7.2) with option to install Which One (v1 or v2) or 2 packages install!
