Way to display playback speed persistently when not 1x?

In v0.8.0 when playback speed is increased / decreased, the new speed flashes a fraction of a second. When playing at greatly increased /decreased speeds, is there an easy way to have the speed always display?

Don't see any available toolbar available actions for this. Now, when change speeds, it flashes under Play, Pause buttons.
It'd be helpful for me to know the speed before hitting hot keys some more, especially getting near end of video.
