How do I uninstall

Postby Peter O » Thu Oct 04, 2012 5:02 am

I see the latest version is released which I have downloaded.
My usual practice is to uninstall & then install the later version - especially since no advice to the contrary is provided.
Problem:
Neither windows7(64) nor "Revo Uninstaller" even register this program.
So my only option appears to be to delete the program files.
Second problem:
Where the heck is this installed - it's not where I would optionally place it?

Comment: This sort of problem is normally associated with lousy programming of questionable products.
But this player is damned good - what is going on, surely an easily accessible uninstaller is not asking too much?
I'd appreciate some pointers.
Thanks
Peter O

Well I can now partly answer my own questions:
1) Where is it: Answer installed in Program Files (x86).
2) Why could I not find it? Answer because for inexplicable reasons the program files as MPlayer not SMPlayer.
3) Why is there no uninstall file? Answer - there is but it's hidden within the program files as a separate uninstall.exe.
4) Why does this program not show up in "Windows Remove unwanted programs: or the list of installed programs in "Revo Uninstaller"? Answer - well that's the bit I can't answer>

Are you sure you downloaded the package from this site?

I've never experienced something like that with the Windows installer.

Sounds really odd, I agree with rvm it might not have been the installer from this site. The installer here does put an entry in 'Programs and Features', in the start menu, and the installer will detect a version already installed and automatically uninstall the old version or give an option to simply uninstall.
