The -fontconfig option is not used if you select a ttf font instead of system font in preferences->subtitles.

I forgot to mention that I'm trying to watch the film with ass styled subs and it works if I'm doing it directly in mplayer2. Can I do something while compiling SMPlayer? Or before? I'm not a programmer but I can try to change something if you tell me where to look.

Fixed in svn r4683.

Anyway it still may fail with the first video, because at that point smplayer doesn't know if it's mplayer2 or not.
