Recent Files Erase + Seeking Issue

Problems, bugs, suggestions... anything related to SMPlayer.

Yeah it is a windows 7 thing. I'm new to it too. My last computer had it, but only lasted 4 months.....

BUT, it's SMplayer stopped doing that once I changed that VLC setting, so if any win7 people ever have both these programs installed and only have recent files unchecked in one, and have the same problem, hopefully they'll search and find out the reason in this thread.....

I don't have an SMPlayer icon in my system tray like you do. Maybe that's a setting didn't check? No matter, I have it "pinned to taskbar" so even when I close the program, the icon stays exactly where it was, it just turns flat instead of 3D..... I guess it serves the same purpose. But you're right, it's a win7 thing for sure because the right click doesn't display SMPlayer options like yours........ mine are "stock" win7 options.

Thanks again, rvm

This might help, disabling Windows 7's document history:

1) Right-click a blank area of the task bar and open Properties.

2) Go to the Start Menu tab.

3) Disable Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the Taskbar and Apply.

Now THAT is what I call a simple fix. Funny I came back here right now because it started displaying recent items again, despite settings in both programs. I also see my computer restarted last night, so I assume the change is related to a windows update?

So I came back here to beg for more help, and look, the answer sits there like the crown jewel.

Thank you redxii, rvm, even anyone who read this and sent good vibes, much appreciated.....

1. Right-click the Start button and then select Properties.

2. Uncheck Store and display a list of recently opened files under Privacy.

The taskbar list of recent files are called "jumplists" and windows 7 will automatically create these for the portable version of MPlayer

They are stored in the %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations folder on your machine and user account.

Mine for smplayer is called the follow, which I tracked down by playing a clip and looking at modification times:

e0a363c142d02db4.automaticDestinations-ms

I deleted the file and saw a new empty one created next time I launched SMPlayer. I didn't check this with a removable drive.

So I created a batch script that deletes the file when I shutdown.
